Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluations rely on an officer’s handwritten descriptions, which can restrict the effectiveness of advanced impairment detection. Without the use of Daxcam devices for evidence recording for police departments, crucial information about horizontal/vertical gaze nystagmus or pupil sizes may be compromised during trial cross-examination in law enforcement.

The DAX Evidence Recorder, also known as the Daxcam, offers an objective digital capture of the entire eye exam, making it an essential tool for law enforcement in advanced impairment detection. Functioning in darkness with targeted infrared illumination, the Dax cam effectively documents eye movement, records the officer's vocal commands, and logs subject comments, thereby establishing a permanent, verifiable chain of evidence recording for police departments.
